My Skincare

This is what I do. This is what works for me.

Just so you know what we are working with, I am 33 years and 4 months old as I am writing this. Other than cropping, there was absolutely positively no editing in these pictures. The wrinkles and under eye circles are mine and none have been removed ;-)

I've actually been wanting to share this with you since I started this blog (I know, that was only 2 weeks ago). But yesterday was the 1st time I've worn makeup since I started the blog. I don't wear much makeup on the daily. I do not wear natural makeup, but I don't wear much, and I love playing with makeup. This is a downfall of mine, and I'm ok with that. If I wore it everyday, I would probably change my ways, at least for some of the products.

See how I travel with my products here.

Check out my clay facial mask here.

In addition to the external care mentioned here, I also take cod liver oil and aloe vera juice. Moisturizing from within is important. I also oil pull a couple times a week which keeps breakouts from happening.

You need:

Here I am about 3 minutes after crawling out of bed:

Morning:

  • I wash my face with Dr. Bronner's liquid soap and baking soda in the shower. Baking soda is a great exfoliator. And Dr. Bronner's is an awesome natural soap. I just dip my wet fingers in the baking soda, add a couple drops of Dr. B and wash (face and body).

  • When I get out of the shower, I use apple cider vinegar as a toner. I have a spray bottle with about 1/3 vinegar and 2/3 water. It has to be raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar with the mother. Get Bragg's. I spray it on a cotton square (I know, I know. It's on my list to get washable rags for this...) Don't forget your neck.

  • Argan oil & Vitamin E. I pour about a tblsp of vitamin E directly into my argan oil bottle. Vitamin E is an antioxidant. Great for under eye circles. I also use argan oil on my hair. It is a dry oil, so it's not as "oily" as coconut oil. Some people use coconut oil on their face and hair, it's too oily for me. Find out more about argan oil here. But argan oil here or here (I prefer the 2nd link to the Life-Flo because it is cold pressed. I used to use Now).

  • That's it. No fancy anything. I let the argan oil set into my skin as long as I have time for (5 minutes or 2 hours, however long I have). Then I wipe off the excess oil with a tissue. Then put on makeup. When I am in direct sun, I use a sunscreen (like when I go on walks, will be outside, etc.). I'm not 100% happy with my sunscreen at the moment, so I will update this and let you know when I find a product I love. I don't wear spf all the time because absorbing the sun's vitamin D is important. And if you eat your antioxidants and stay moisturized from within, you will have great protection (some info here, I will tell you more soon).

Night:

  • I start by removing my makeup (if I wore any. If no makeup, then obviously I skip the remove makeup step). Here's me with makeup.

  • I keep a container of coconut oil with vitamin E in my bathroom. I just fill the container with coconut oil and mix in vitamin E. In this size container, I probably added a couple tblsp. vitamin E. Again, vitamin E is an antioxidant. It helps reduce scarring, puffiness under your eyes, good for sun protection, good stuff. I use this mix for my body lotion and for makeup remover. Watch me mix it here.

  • To remove your makeup, just smear the coconut/E mix on your face and wipe off. I use disposable cotton square (yes, I know, will work on washable cloths).

Gel eyeliner makes a mess.

  • Then repeat the morning routine. Wash with Dr. B & baking soda, follow with apple cider vinegar, moisturize with argan/E oil.

That's it! That's my entire facial skin care routine.

  1. This is great! I am a huge fan of natural and DIY beauty/hair products. I really need to try argan oil. I already do coconut oil and love it!
