Cardo's Farm Project, 8/9/13

Today was my 1st day to work in Cardo's new field. It's amazing how much they already have growing there! Their new field is in Shiloh Fields, a gardening ministry by Denton Bible Church. They are doing amazing things! Growing lots of food and donating a lot to people in need. Really amazing work! Here is their facebook. Here's a Denton Record Chronicle article about the field.

Today I harvested okra, cucumbers, and did some hand tilling.

Cucumbers are quite abundant (that's why they are inexpensive)

Snack time

I hand tilled around some butternut squash plants. It's to break up any weed roots that could be forming. I broke up the soil and then rebuilt the mound around the plant.

The farmers tilled the rows with this handy thing. It breaks up the plant roots, which is why I went behind them and hand tilled around the plants.

Thanks for the flowers farmer friends!!

These are pictures of Shiloh Field. These pictures are not part of Cardo's plot.

My pretty flowers!

I never shared yesterday's CSA with you. Sorry, it's already in the veggie bin, and I didn't want to pull it out for a pic. Basil, onions, okra, squash, zucchini, cucumber. I cooked some of the veggies last night with my gnocchi..
