Teething Remedies

The Moose is teething. This is round 2 for him. The 1st round, he sprouted 5 teeth very quickly. That was 2-3 months ago. So we'll see what happens this time. Here's what we do to soothe him.

  • Hylands Teething Tablets!! A natural teething remedy. I am out of these right now, but here's the product. They are tablets that dissolve very quickly. You put them in your baby's mouth and the tablets provide immediate numbing. I love all Hylands products (I use their cold remedy as well).
  • Hylands Teething Gel. Find it here. I have about 5 of these tubes. One in both diaper bags (I have a 3 hour bag, and an 8 hour bag) and a tube in almost every room in the house. I use the normal application where I put some on my finger and rub on his gums. But more often, I put some on his pacifier and let him suck on the pacifier. The downside of that is that when he drops the pacifier, it's a sticky mess and picks up anything it comes in contact with (carpet fibers, dirt, etc.). But he likes it, so it's worth cleaning the pacifiers an extra time or two.

  • Bach's Rescue Remedy. Find it here. Read my blog post on this here. When he is in a lot of pain, this soothes him every time. It's a mix of calming herbs and it works! Just a few drops is all you need. I use this on plane flights, too.

  • Homemade teething biscuits. I have 2 recipes. The original is here. It's 4 ingredients and super easy. The Moose loves these biscuits!

When he got a little older, I added to that recipe. My oatmeal, avocado biscuits are here.

  • I also use my fresh food feeder for teething. Read more about this on this post. I make his baby food (see that here and here). I use my food ice cubes and put in the fresh food feeder. He will use his spinach and carrot cubes for teething! He sucks on the cubes for cold relief, and bonus for me, extra veggies!

Of course, there are tons of other remedies. This is a list of what we use. I know a lot people love the frozen washcloth (wet a washcloth and freeze, then let him suck on it). There are so many options, so test them out and see what gives your babe relief.
