Bentonite Clay Mask

I love my bentonite clay! I originally bought this when I was at a health food store & looking for a new face mask. I saw this and bought it without knowing anything about it (which is very unstereotypical of me). I have seen it in the bulk spice section of a local health food store. I will probably check that out next time and purchase it that way. I did this tonight. As I am writing this, I'm having trouble keeping my hands off my super smooth & soft cheeks!

See me use bentonite clay as a hair mask here.

I do this as often as I can. I would love to do it weekly, but that just doesn't happen. I usually get to it once every 2-3 months.

Bentonite clay is, well, clay. It's all natural volcanic ash from Fort Benton, Wyoming. It's supposed to be an excellent detox (taken orally). I have never done that and don't know much about it. But I am very interested in learning more about this. Bentonite clay will make it to the top of my list soon and I will let you know what I learn. For now, it's an awesome facial mask!

This is going to get a little technical, but I'll keep it simple. It has tons of minerals. Apparently, the clay has a natural electrical charge. This charge attracts toxins. All I know is that my face tingles (in a good way) and it is splotchy red immediately after the mask.

Mix equal parts Bragg's raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar with the mother (yes, it has to be that exact vinegar) with the clay. You can not use a metal spoon or bowl because of the electrical carge of the clay. I reuse that disposable plastic spoon and keep it in my silverware drawer.

Make a thick, muddy, paste.

I removed my makeup with coconut oil to prep my skin (click here on what kind of coconut oil to buy). That's it, I didn't wash or anything, but do it if you want. (By the way, I am 33 years old and did not edit these photos).

Put the mask on your face. Don't forget your neck.

Leave it on for about 20 minutes. I usually take a bubble bath. It will get tingly. That's normal. It will dry quickly. It will crack as your face moves. All of that is normal and fine. Leave it on at least until it drys. I left it on close to an hour tonight because I was reading in the tub. It doesn't matter how long it's on as long as it dries. I wash it off with a washcloth and water.

Afterwards, your skin will be red and blotchy. That's normal and fine. It's the electrical charge of the clay doing it's thing.

I finish with my argan/vitamin e oil. That's it. You're done! Find it here.
