Cardo's Farm 7/17/13

I volunteered at Cardo's Farm Project today. As always, it was awesome! Today I harvested flowers (Xenia) and black eyed peas.

That's the largest okra in the world

Cardo's Farm Project is moving to a new property soon. This land will soon be an orchard. Some peach trees are already fruiting!

The Xenia I harvested.

 Black eyed peas

That's farmer Amanda and her peas

Every time I go to the farm, I realize how little I know about how things grow. Peas dry on the plant. You can pick them and eat them fresh, or let them dry on the plant. I thought you picked them fresh then dried them.

These prickly bushes were my Nemesis today. Those thorns pricked right through my pants. They helped keep my harvesting exciting!

 Bee doing it's thing.

 A tad muddy today.

Watermelon & pea growing in harmony.

That's a mess of peas. Peas as far as the eye can see.

Yummy. I definitely ate those (and a few more).

Snack time with the most yummy tomatoes in the world.

Extra veggies I got to come home with. Bonus!
