Dusting with lemons

I use this homemade duster for the "good" furniture. It does not work for anything that is lacquered, shellacked, or not real wood. The oil will just smear all over the place. I use vinegar to clean that kind of furniture. It is amazing on real wood. And it smells glorious, the lemons and the wood.

1 part lemon juice to 2 parts olive oil. I usually juice 4-6 lemons and just add the appropriate amount of oil. In the picture below, I have it in a spray bottle. I usually put it in a mason jar. But I thought I would test to see how it does in a spray bottle. Well....fail. It clogs the sprayer. But it keeps just fine. It doesn't matter what you store it in. Store it in the fridge. Take it out of the fridge about 30 minutes before you use it to let it come to room temperature. It will keep for a couple months, then throw it out and make a new batch.

Didn't take a before picture, but isn't that a shiny bread box?!

Before: my cutting board (my dad made it).

After: my cutting board. If you have a wood cutting board, you definitely want to keep it moisturized to keep it from splintering.

Before: Trivet (pot holder), dad made that, too.

After: trivet

That's my rag. I just pour the mix on my rag and "Wax on. Wax off." I wipe it on. Let it sit for a minute. Then wipe off with a clean part of the rag.

The Moose's crib (dad made that, too. Take a tour of his nursery here).

Before: table (I really LOVE that table. I found it at TJ Maxx for about $60! What?! Love it. And it is very heavy, solid wood.)

After: table

This mix is super excellent for unfinished wood. This is an unfinished piece we bought about 7 years ago. I treat it with the lemon/oil mix and it is now a rich, golden color. This mix does wonders for unfinished wood.

Ok, you are supposed to look at the golden color. Not the dents and scratch marks.
