How to Boil an Egg

I did not grow up in a cooking house. To put it in perspective, we had Thanksgiving catered. A night in of cooking involved a box of Hamburger Helper. In fact, I very vividly remember the first time I saw a bulb of garlic outside of the grocery store. I was in college, about 19 years old. I was at a friend's apartment and she was making homemade spaghetti sauce. Which I had 2 thoughts about that. First, why make something homemade when you can buy a jar at the store for $1.99? Second, spaghetti sauce is made out of tomatoes?

I learned how to cook by watching 30 Minute Meals with Rachel Ray. I watched her all the time.

When Ryan & I were first dating in 2005, he came over one night for dinner. He was in the living room watching tv and I was in the kitchen attempting to cook. It was a small apartment so the kitchen & the living room were the same room.
Me: "This is a lot of garlic."
Ryan: "The recipe said 3 cloves."
Me: "I know. That's a lot."
Ryan, walking into the kitchen: "Ashlee, that's 3 bulbs. This is 3 cloves."

I am telling you this because I am about to tell you how to boil an egg. I am not doing that because I think my readers are dumb. I am doing this because, once upon a time, I had to look up how to boil an egg. And maybe you still learn a tip or two even if you do know how to boil an egg.

I keep boiled eggs in my fridge almost always. They are the perfect little snack. I will boil about half a dozen at a time. The Moose also eats them in his snack pack. These eggs are from a farmer at the Denton Community Market.

Put the eggs in your pot. Cover with water.

Cover the pot. Bring the water to a boil. Once the water comes to a boil, remove the pot from heat. Just let it sit for about half an hour and cool. That's it. You just boiled an egg.

Store them in the fridge in a container with a lid (otherwise your fridge will smell like boiled eggs). I peel them when I eat them (compost the shell). Some people peel them at this step. Either way. They will be good for 3-4 days.

I sprinkle a little salt on them and eat them just like this:
