Refried Beans

It's so easy to make refried beans. I don't do it very often because I like them straight out of the crock pot better. But sometimes a good batch of refried beans is the way to go.

I slow cooked beans. Click for the recipe. These are pinto beans.

You can use any fat source you want. Vegetable oil, olive oil, coconut oil, bacon grease (that makes awesome beans!), lard, butter, whatever. I usually use olive oil. That's what I used here. Heat your oil on medium heat. I used about half a cup oil here for a large pot of beans.

Use a slotted spoon and add your beans.

Mash them. The heat should still be on medium.

I add the beans a little at a time, mash, add more, mash, repeat.

That's it. You just refried beans! They are ready now or you can turn the heat down to low and let them simmer for as long as you need to keep them warm.
