My First Kombucha

Today I had my first kombucha! I've heard so much about this magical drink and have always wanted to try it, but didn't want to spend $3 on a drink. I hear it's easy to make, but I'm not going to get into all of that without at least trying it first. But my curiosity finally won and I bought a bottle today.

I absolutely loved it! Kombucha is made when sugar is added to black or green tea and it ferments.

Kombucha is a probiotic. It's helps with digestion and improves energy levels. The probiotics are a great mini-detox for your system. Detoxing has been the most effective way for me to lose weight. Check out more about how I lost weight through detoxing (yes, I have before & after pictures!).

It was a little sweet, a little tart, and a little vinegary. Which is probably why I liked it, I LOVE vinegar. Absolutely love vinegar.

I liked it so much that I think I might have a new project soon. Making kombucha!

I bought my kombucha at my local health food store. I also bought some local eggs, ripe bananas, walnuts (I'm making banana nut muffins tomorrow), a brownie (ok, every time they have their brownie, I have to buy it. I can't help it.), kale & cabbage salad, and a few dolma (their dolmas are so good). The dolma, salad, kombucha, and brownie were all for lunch today.

Kombucha IS easy to make- I've been making apple cider vinegar with the mother for a few years now and started with a kombucha mother. The technique for both is pretty similar, I blogged about it, which you may be interested in checking out: http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2012/07/make-raw-apple-cider-vinegar-acv-with.html

I would love to have you to link up at my weekly Clever Chicks Blog Hop: http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2013/10/clever-chicks-blog-hop-55-with-two.html
