Whenever people ask me why I care so much about a natural lifestyle, this is my answer:
When I was 27 (6 years ago), 2 months after I got married, I woke up and couldn't stand up. Three years of procedures & surgeries later, and I had a fusion (the screws in the picture, that's me). Now, I'm healthier and stronger than I ever thought I would be.
Don't get me wrong, I was always on the healthy side. Athletic and ate decent food (minus a few years in college....). But after 3 years of lots of pain meds, I unconsciously led myself to a more natural lifestyle. I think it was a natural reaction, a need to detox. Natural & healthy to me means local and organic. I try to be as local and organic with all the choices in my life as I can.
Do I do it all right? No. Absolutely not. But I'm trying my best. I do as much as I can within my budget and at a comfortable level of convenience.
Maybe one day I will post more details of my injury. But for now, I'll leave the past in the past.
The best thing that happened as result of my surgeries is adopting my son. He's perfect! His name is Morrison (aka The Moose). And people have referred to my parenting style as "crunchy." As in crunchy granola, as in hippy. Hence, the Crunchy Moose!
